Your role is organizer, guide, proofreader and supporter, while your athlete owns the communication and the journey. Here is what that looks like at each step.
Parent starter guide. Honest athlete conversation, understand college levels, organize athlete information, begin a school list and transition ownership to the athlete.
Objective athletic fit guide using measurables, competition level, video, current college rosters, coach feedback, camp evaluation and actual recruiting interest.
Explain the parent's role as organizer, guide, proofreader and supporter while the athlete owns communication. Acknowledge age and situational exceptions.
Explain prospect camps, mega camps, school specific camps, showcases, combines and invitation language. Help families evaluate whether a school is already evaluating the athlete.
Discuss commitment graphics, teammates receiving calls, parents in the stands and ranking services. Reinforce that athletes develop differently and rosters have different needs.
Close the first Resource Center series with the bigger goal: finding a school where the athlete can succeed academically, athletically, socially and as an adult.
Not sure which guide applies to you? Chilly answers all of this for your athlete - their sport, grad year and goals.
